Fisher Esports Weekly: LAN Qualifications Abound (3/31–4/6, 2025)

As our Fisher esports teams fight their way through playoff brackets, many have found themselves emerging victorious and securing their seats at their respective LAN playoff competitions. 

Throughout the week, the Fisher College Falcons COD team, Fisher College Open LoL team, Fisher Varsity OW team, and Fisher R6 team all qualified for the Playfly Spring Tournament of Champions taking place at CECC Texas 2025 at Esports Stadium Arlington. In addition, the Fisher College SSBU team qualified for CECC Texas through the May Madness Last Chance Qualifier bracket, securing their spot at the event. The Fisher Fumblers Valorant team also dominated their way through the first two rounds of Aurora Series playoffs to punch their ticket to the in-person playoffs event in Lisle, IL. 

In other highlights from the week, the Fisher College and Fisher Falcons COD rosters took on CCL regional playoffs over the weekend, running through the entire bracket to find themselves in 2nd and 3rd place on the podium after a nail-biting loss to the St. Clair Saints. CRL playoffs also occurred over the weekend, with the Fisher College squad narrowly losing to the reigning champions of Northwood Blue in the quarterfinals in a multiple-overtime 7-game series.

Fisher Esports Weekly: Playoffs Dreams Continue (3/24–3/30, 2025)

This past week marked the first round of playoffs for many of the Fisher esports teams. While some higher-seeded teams received a bye week and automatically moved to the next round of playoffs, others have already started their fights through the brackets. On the other hand, the CLOL and CVAL playoffs have already been in progress, with the latest results bringing the respective Fisher rosters to their Grand Finals on April 12th. 

As playoffs progress, keep an eye on the playoffs qualifications list below the match results; additional seedings, qualifications, and final standings will be updated each week!

Fisher Esports Weekly: Fisher Goes to Playoffs (3/17–3/23, 2025)

After many grueling weeks of regular season play, many of our Fisher esports teams have reached post-season playoffs. In a special edition of the weekly report, we list both the competition results from the week, as well as the list of teams qualifying for playoffs in their respective leagues. With at least one team qualifying in nearly every game title, we're set to have a very busy post-season leading up to LAN events at the end of the semester. 

Looking at highlights from this past week, Fisher Izaac had a great showing in the semi-finals of the ECAC Teamfight Tactics playoffs, getting 4th place in his division and securing a spot in the divisional Finals. In addition, the Fisher Open SSBU team showed up for a dominating 2-0 against their high-tier opponent of Northwood, same as their Valorant Playfly Open Premier counterpart.

Fisher Esports Weekly: Queen City Clash Bound (3/10–3/16, 2025)

This past week was very busy for Fisher's esports players between Spring break reschedules and weekend tournaments. This week's biggest highlight is the Fisher College R6: Siege team qualifying for the Queen City Clash LAN event taking place at the University of Cincinnati the weekend of April 12-13th. The Fisher roster beat out other strong contenders of Akron, Kennesaw State, and Penn State to go 3-0 and earn first place in the weekend qualifier tournament. 

In other exciting news, the ECAC Teamfight Tactics regular season has ended, and Fisher player Izaac (Izaac Nelson) had a great showing and will be going into the playoffs in his division with the 3rd overall seed.

Fisher Esports Weekly: Spring Break Battles (3/3–3/9, 2025)

Most of our Fisher Esports players left campus for Spring break this past week, but that doesn't mean the competition stopped! While there were a lot of reschedules to the upcoming weeks, we still had many teams who played out their scheduled games. In fact, Call of Duty, CS2, Overwatch, and Super Smash Bros won all of their matches this week. In addition, Street Fighter player Hokuto beat his opponent from Sheridan College in a nail-biting 7 game series.

Fisher Esports Weekly: Wins on Wins (2/24–3/2, 2025)

Fisher Esports is entering March break on a high note after an impressive week of competition. Out of the nearly forty matches played out over the week, only four were losses. 

The Fisher Deadlock team made its debut on the Deadlock Collegiate Series stream, securing a dominant 2-0 victory over NSC Esports. In addition, the Fisher Fumblers Valorant team defeated their opponents of Mizzou in their Aurora Series match.

Other highlights include Smash Bros Open winning 2-1 over their top-ranked opponent of Northwood Blue, and Fisher Izaac making a podium placement in this week's Teamfight Tactics competition.

Fisher Esports Weekly: Qualified for CECC Texas (2/17–2/23, 2025)

Our Fisher Esports teams made some major waves this past week. Over the weekend, multiple teams placed in the top 2 of the CECC (Collegiate Esports Commissioner's Cup) East Regional to qualify for the main event in Arlington, Texas this May. Fisher will be represented in every game title offered at the event, which includes Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Valorant, Rocket League, Overwatch, and Street Fighter 6. 

Other highlights of the week include the  Counter-Strike 2 team going flawless in 3 consecutive rounds of Playfly competition, and the SSBU teams sweeping all of their weekly matches across three different leagues. In addition, iRacer Jaime Plascencia made a big showing, placing 6th out of 47 racers in the Bathurst 2 Hour hosted by the Collegiate iRacing League. He finished only 43.831 seconds behind the leader after the grueling 2-hour marathon race, his best performance yet this year.

Fisher Esports Weekly: Rocket League Shines (2/10–2/16, 2025)

Fisher Esports has entered the third week of competition with a bang. Some highlights include the Deadlock team starting their season out strong with a win in the Deadlock Collegiate Series, Counter-Strike winning both of their NECC matches in 2-0 sweeps, and Valorant Varsity pulling out wins in NACE against two strong opponents of WVU and OC.

Rocket League had a particularly good week, not only winning all of their regular season matches but also getting major upset wins against teams such as St. Clair and Concord to finish 2nd place in the CRL Open Tournament this weekend.
