Meet Isabelle Moreira a Rising Star in Justice and Cheer

Portrait of Isabelle Moreira

Isabelle Moreira, a criminal justice major on track to graduate next year, may have grown up nearly 100 miles away on the island of Nantucket, but she found the perfect academic home at Fisher College. Drawn to the small class sizes, she was ready for the opportunity to build strong connections with her

professors and fully immerse herself in the energy of its location in the heart of Boston.

Transitioning into college life was difficult for her because she came from so far away and did not have a community, but Fisher made it easier with all the resources they provided. She likes being in the Fisher College community because everyone is so helpful and polite, and everyone always has a welcoming spirit.

Isabelle is a part of the Fisher Cheer Team, which she started more recently in the fall of 2023. Growing up, Isabelle always wanted to be a competitive

cheerleader, but there were no teams in Nantucket. She chose to start cheerleading on the Fisher Cheer Team because she wanted to support her friends who are on the Fisher basketball team. She emphasized that the guys on the basketball team deserve the most support possible. She said, “I have enjoyed cheering because it has given me friendships I'll cherish, and got me back to my roots of dancing”.

The cheer team can take up a lot of Isabelle’s time, so it can be hard to balance everything at once, but she finds a way. She said she makes sure to plan everything out in a timely manner and gives herself enough time so she doesn’t get overwhelmed. She recommends not overplanning in one day

Her favorite class this semester is “Contemporary Issues in the Entertainment Industry,” taught by Meredith Spencer. She loves this class because she enjoys reading about the cases of all the famous artists she knows.

After Isabelle graduates from Fisher next year, she plans to take the bar exam and attend law school. Driven by a passion for law, justice, and making a genuine impact in her community, she is shaping her future one class at a time. Losing Isabelle will be challenging for the entire community, but we will support her wherever she goes.
