When asked about her experience at Fisher, she remarked, “The location and the small class sizes help with getting your classes changed, figuring out financial aid, getting academic support, and so on. It’s SO easy since everything is basically in the same place, and it just makes the

staff feel more approachable to me.” She also appreciates the awesome community at Fisher, stating, “I like the Fisher community because the faculty and staff are super easy to access and are usually very willing to help. I also like that the student community is very diverse, and you get exposed to a lot of languages.”

As the President of the Asian American Pacific Islander Club, Chen started the organization because she saw a need for it. “I realized there wasn’t a club for Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI ) students, and there was a pretty large number of AAPI students that I would see throughout my day, so I thought, why not? I wanted to create a community where people feel seen while also giving back to the community.” Chen is grateful for the resources the school provides to help her club thrive, as well as the community she has built through it. During club meetings, she explains, “We discuss different organizations around Boston related to Asian Americans or Pacific Islanders and choose which one we want to participate in, and then we go and do it!”

To balance her academics and various responsibilities, Chen relies on organization. “I have a whiteboard calendar in my room, which I recommend. It helps you see your due dates. It also helps to have study time with your friends, so you get to socialize while getting your work done.” Another strategy she uses is to “lock myself” in the library, insisting that she “will not let myself leave until I have my work finished!” To make the process more enjoyable, she sometimes takes her work to cute coffee shops and study spots, saying, “There are so many cute coffee places and study spots that make romanticizing schoolwork easier.”

Overall, Chen’s experience at Fisher has been positive. She cherishes her community and has developed an effective way to organize her days. When asked about her future plans, she expressed, “After college, I plan to go to medical school to become a pediatric psychiatrist!”
