Kendra Sadler's Passion for Fashion

Kendra Sadler's fashion journey from Salem to Fisher College, inspired by industry leaders, led her to pursue marketing and Fashion Merchandising. Her academic path included a pivotal Nordstrom internship and leadership in the Fisher Fashion Society. Kendra, set to graduate in 2024, reflects on attending NYFW and advises aspiring fashion professionals on the importance of hard work and seizing opportunities.

In the vibrant fashion world, Kendra Sadler's story unfolds as a journey marked by passion, resilience, and the pursuit of dreams. Hailing from Salem, Oregon, Kendra's roots are where her love for fashion began.

Inspiration came from strong female leaders in the industry such as Emily Weise, Jane Fraser, Chioma Nnadi, and Chloe Malle, who served as a guiding force in Kendra’s pursuit to reach her goals and set her on a path to Fisher College. A desire for comprehensive programs in marketing and Fashion Merchandising fueled her decision on Fisher.

"I applied for college programs all over America with Fashion Merchandising programs,” said Kendra, “and I was drawn to Fisher's marketing and FM programs."

Kendra began her Fisher College career with a clear goal to obtain a marketing and fashion merchandising education that would set her up for success in the fashion industry.

"I always wanted to study Fashion Merchandising," she said. In fact, during high school, she started her own accessories business. She was ready to learn more.

Kendra's academic journey included a challenging yet favorite class – a first-year textile science course. Despite its difficulty, the class provided essential knowledge about fibers, materials, and fabric properties crucial for success in the fashion industry. An impactful summer internship at Nordstrom was a turning point for Kendra, who describes it as a lovely experience where she was invited to participate in meetings with Nordstrom's executive team and tasked to contribute to social media content – all of which enhanced her merchandising knowledge.

Adding to her accolades, Kendra took on a leadership role as the President of the Fisher College Fashion Society. Before this role, she served two years as the Vice President, contributing to the organization's reintroduction post-COVID-19. As she approaches graduation in May of 2024. Kendra utilizes her free time biking, baking, exploring New England, spending time with friends, and trying new restaurants. As she approaches graduation in May of 2024, Kendra plans to embark on a two-month backpacking adventure through Europe and Africa before starting her career in the fashion industry in August.

As she reflects on her experiences that included attending New York Fashion Week, Kendra emphasizes its importance not just for the runway but as a vibrant networking opportunity to connect with designers, influencers, celebrities, and fellow students in the field.

For individuals aspiring to a career in fashion merchandising, Kendra offers a dose of reality – hard work is the key to success. She stresses the importance of dedication to academic studies, perseverance in securing internships, and actively pursuing opportunities for a successful career in the competitive fashion industry.
