Fisher's Impact on a Budding Marine Biologist

Meet Caroline Saucier, a third-year biology student from Sarasota, Florida. Caroline’s college search led her to Boston, where she knew she’d find a fresh start. “I wanted a new experience away from home, and Boston seemed like the next step,” she explains. She loves the city’s energy, with countless exciting spots just a walk away from campus. Since coming to Fisher, Caroline has thrived academically and athletically. Fisher’s hands-on biology program and accessible resources have supported her growth as a student. As a member of the Biology Club, she collaborates with peers, tackles homework, and shares career goals. Fisher’s close-knit community has given her the support needed to excel.

Caroline has also made her mark on Fisher’s Women’s Volleyball team as a middle blocker. “Being in volleyball has pushed me to keep improving, not just in the sport but in my studies and career,” she shares. The teamwork and discipline she’s gained have strengthened her focus on the court and the classroom.

This summer, Caroline discovered a calling for marine biology. She volunteered at Reserva Playa Tortuga, a sea turtle conservation facility in Costa Rica, where she cared for turtle eggs and supported efforts to protect them from poachers. “I loved every part of it,” she reflects. “My sea turtles were released in July and are now swimming in the Pacific Ocean.” Her passion for marine life, particularly sharks due to her Florida roots, has intensified through these experiences.

At Fisher, Caroline has built a supportive network and lasting friendships among students, faculty, and staff. Her experiences reflect the unique opportunities Fisher offers, empowering students to pursue their academic goals, athletic interests, and personal passions. Caroline’s journey is a true example of how Fisher’s close-knit community and Boston’s vibrant environment allow students to grow, succeed, and discover their paths.
