Fall 2024 Class Notes

Carolyn MacKenzie Bowers ’63 wrote in to share, “I have been retired since 2010, after working as a legal assistant for over 22 years. Prior to that I was a medical secretary for 12 years. I have been living back in my hometown of Gorham, Maine for 47 years. I have three children and five grandchildren”.

This year, Jean Huntington Bowman ’68 sent news that she is married for 54 years and still living in Pasadena, Maryland. She has a son and two beautiful granddaughters, the eldest graduated from high school in June. Jean has been retired since 2010 from the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court after over 38 years as a Court Reporter. Her hobbies include gardening, knitting and reading. Jean also says, “I love hearing Fisher news – so many changes – and still have fond memories of my two years in Boston at 102 Beacon! I still have contact with three of my Fisher Jr. roommates/friends even though we haven’t seen each other in years”. In closing she said, “I am proud to be a Fisher Jr. graduate”.

Alison Parkhurst Bell from the Class of 1974, gave an update on her journey post Fisher: “I attended Fisher for one year, and then left to go to nursing school. I would have graduated with the Fisher (Jr.) College Class of 1974. I worked in hospitals for many years. I became a nationally board-certified holistic nurse. I was accepted as a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society of nurses. I continued my education after obtaining my nursing BSN, and got an MS in Holistic Health. I am currently retired, but work part-time as an English tutor online for Cambly Inc. teaching students from all over the world. My education at Fisher College has been invaluable for this position! I keep active by hiking mountains, snowshoeing, and riding my self-propelled scooter. My three children are grown; two are doctors”.

From West Cornwall, CT, Stephanie Cavanaugh Hazard ’81 wrote in that she is a Horse Carriage Livery Driver at Gaitkeeper Stables. And she also does work as a professional voice actor and announcer.

Owner and Operator of LUXE Beauty and Brows, LLC. Susan Petrilli Conte ’88, also works in South Windsor, CT at BLUEMERCURY Evergreen. Susan says of her career, “loving the beauty business for over 30 years now”!

Stacie Weldon ’88 emailed an update since her days at Fisher. Stacie is now an “empty nester” and her son is living in Boston. She went on to say, “We have gone to all of the MLB parks except the California and Seattle teams. Hope to travel there this year, more travel and less stress in 2024. Fond memories and much pride of Fisher and its wonderful preparation for the real world”!
