Meet Jose Neris '24
Jose Neris ’24 is a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Computer Forensics. He joined the Fisher community in Fall 2020 as a first-year from Puerto Rico. Jose has worked as an Admissions Ambassador giving tours to prospective students and was a student-athlete on the baseball team for three seasons. During his time on Beacon Street, Jose also served as a role of Resident Assistant. Jose is a proud reflection of the Fisher student body today. A first-generation college student with strong work-ethic, multiple talents and passions as well as a desire to learn and leave a positive mark in the world.
Reflecting upon his Fisher College career Jose had this to share: “Fisher provided an excellent balance of meeting people who had the same interests and background as me, while also getting to know individuals from different cultures full of stories and beliefs different than mine. My Fisher experience helped me develop my identity as it allowed me to share memorable experiences with classmates, other student-athletes and gave me a start in the work place. Balancing my student life and tasks with a schedule full of athletic and work responsibilities shaped me into being a more responsible, proactive and overall better version of who I already was. My college experience has also taught me that our days are full of continuous challenges and roadblocks, and that only persistence and planned work will get you closer to achieve your goals. There are no limitations to what we can do, there are only mental barriers. Fisher College provided me with an environment in which not only my intelligence, but my vision, discipline and character were put to the test, allowing me to shape and decide who I wanted to become.” Jose closed with this advice for future students: “Only exposing yourself to an environment that gets you out of your comfort zone you will truly understand the potential that exists within you. All you have to do is be brave enough to take the next step.”
It is through the philanthropic support of our alumni and friends that the College is able to provide such a growth-mindset environment and informative educational experience for students like Jose. At one time, every Fisher graduate is a student in Jose’s image to some extent; challenging themselves, pushing themselves to develop their potential and a promising future. Jose’s core belief is that “everyone has the opportunity to achieve their goals”. Donors like you are vital in helping provide that pivotal opportunity to educate, elevate and empower. Thank you in advance for investing in Fisher students and gifting them the chance to achieve their goals. Regardless of size, your contribution has a life-long impact as Jose and the Class of 2024 can attest.
All gifts made now through the end of the fiscal year (June 30th) will be matched (up to a total of $5,000) through the generosity of our Board of Trustees. Your gift will make double the difference!
