Sport Management Department
Dr. Katie Shea began teaching Sport Management at Fisher College in 2015. Shea competed for the University of Wisconsin Varsity Rowing Team during her undergraduate career, and this provided the foundation for her sport management research and academic motivations. Shea conducts research, writes, and presents on the activities and practices associated with the administration of intercollegiate sports.
Shea’s research focuses on the effectiveness of policies and rules developed and implemented by the governing bodies of sport to achieve collective objectives. Her research has been highlighted in The Chronicle of Higher Education, is published in the Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics and has been presented at international and national conferences. Dr. Shea places student learning at the center of the classroom and strives to engage, challenge, and inspire growth in her students to support their achievement of professional and lifelong aspirations.
