Criminal Justice Department
Dr. Spencer is a Professor of and Program Director for Criminal Justice at Fisher College. She is the advisor for Alpha Phi Sigma, the criminal justice honor society and co-advises the criminal justice club. Upon completion of her B.A., she worked in a variety of settings with at-risk, high risk and court involved youth in both Colorado and Massachusetts. Dr. Spencer also volunteered as Medical Advocate for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center. Her main area of research interest is sexual assault, but she has also worked on a variety of research projects examining topics like violence in the NFL, the Marshall Hypothesis, and mass shootings. Dr. Spencer's dissertation focused on statutory rape clearance and policies. She is a co-author on “Forensic Evidence and Criminal Justice Outcomes in a Statewide Sample of Sexual Assault Case” published by the National Institute of Justice in 2014.
