This program focuses on preparing students to navigate the fast-paced, 24/7 media landscape by teaching essential skills for today’s journalism industry.

Students will develop expertise in key areas such as conducting thorough internet research, verifying sources for accuracy, performing effective interviews, blogging, and adapting stories for different audiences and media formats. Journalism Career Track

The career opportunities for journalism graduates have evolved beyond traditional reporter or news writer roles. As consumers increasingly turn to the internet and social media for news, today's journalists must be versatile and skilled in a variety of tasks. Journalism students are trained to not only write compelling stories but also to conduct interviews, shoot and edit video, and repurpose content for different platforms, including websites and social media channels.

Graduates with a Journalism concentration can pursue a range of exciting careers across multiple media platforms. Popular career paths for print journalists include beat reporter, news writer, and editor. For those interested in broadcast media, positions such as on-air reporters, news anchors, and behind-the-scenes producers are in demand for radio and television.

In addition to traditional journalism roles, the skills gained through this program open doors to a variety of other career opportunities. Graduates can find rewarding positions in corporate communications, public relations, financial writing, grant writing for non-profits or higher education, and more. By combining practical journalism skills with a strong liberal arts foundation, students are well-equipped to succeed in today’s media and communication industries.
