Fisher College provides a wide array of services for students to take charge of their academic experience. There are resources available through the Writing and Academic Support Center, the Library, and the Office of Student Accessibility Services (OSAS) and Study Abroad to enable students to meet their full potential. Our Academic Advising department will assist you as you navigate your journey.

Additionally, we offer special programs to enhance your college experience. Our first-year program for Boston Campus students, the Common Experience, is designed to ensure a smooth transition to college. Challenge yourself academically through the Honors Program, and join Honor Societies when you are invited. Through our Career Services Office we offer skills-based Badges to enhance your knowledge, experience and your resume, among other services.

The Common Experience

About the Program

The Common Experience is a program designed to provide Boston Campus students with the skills and knowledge needed to successfully transition to college. Students earn one credit for completion of this 1/2 semester course, which successfully integrates academic curriculum with co-curricular speaker events and related activities.

As a complement to the core academic curriculum, students benefit from Common Sessions that are scheduled throughout the year. Convocations built around the annual theme contextualize and enrich learning through speaker events and related activities.

The first year of college is full of new changes and experiences. The Common Experience is a semester-long course designed to aid students in their transition from high school to the Fisher College Community. Through academic and social activities, and interactions with their Common Experience instructors and support from peers, students are equipped with the skills needed to achieve success during their first year.

Honors Program and Societies

The Honors Program

The Honors Program invites a select community of students on a journey of excellence. These students will be provided opportunities to explore the interfaces among their area of professional study and the social sciences and humanities; to gain the sensitivity to project and to test the moral and social implications of their future professional judgments and activities; and to foster respect for self and others in preparation for full and productive lives. The philosophy of the Honors Program is that well-educated individuals should seize the opportunity to take the knowledge they have gained in their educational settings and experiences and apply it to the betterment of the communities from which they come and to those in which they plan to serve. The Honors Program is available to Boston Campus students.

Dean's List

The Dean's List is the official recognition by the College of a student's excellent academic performance. Only degree students are eligible for this recognition. To be named to the Dean's List undergraduate students must earn at least 12 college-level, grade-point-bearing credits in that semester through course work at Fisher; achieve a minimum semester grade-point average of 3.3; and also have no failing grades within that semester. Undergraduate students in GPS may qualify for Dean's List based on their academic performance during consecutive 8-week academic terms.

Honor Societies

Alpha Alpha Alpha

Tri-Alpha is the National Honor Society for first-generation college students. The Fisher College chapter was formed in 2023.

The student has earned at least 30 credit/semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) towards degree
The undergraduate student has achieved an overall undergraduate GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
Neither of the student's parents, nor step-parents, nor legal guardians, completed a bachelor's

Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society in Criminal Justice

Established at Fisher College in 2016, students are eligible for invitation if they meet the following requirements:

Be enrolled as a Criminal Justice major or minor
Have completed at least 3 full semesters or its equivalent
Have completed a minimum of 4 courses in Criminal Justice
Have attained a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale in their cumulative and criminal justice courses.
Rank in the top 35 percent of their class.

Golden Key International Honor Society

Established at Fisher College in 2012, students are eligible for invitation if they meet the following requirements:

Must be in the top 15 percent of all bachelor’s degree-seeking students
Have earned 30 or more credits while attending Fisher.
Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology
Established at Fisher College in 2015. Students are eligible for invitation if they meet the following requirements:
Be enrolled as a Psychology major.
Have completed at least 3 semester or equivalent of full-time college course work.
Have completed at least 9 semester hours or equivalent of Psychology courses.
Have earned a cumulative GPA that is in the top 35 percent of their class (sophomore, junior, senior) compared to their classmates
Have a minimum 3.0 GPA average for psychology courses.

National Society of Leadership and Success

The NSLS is an organization that provides a life-changing leadership program that helps students achieve personal growth, career success, and empowers them to have a positive impact in their communities.

Psi Chi International Honor Society

The inaugural chapter of Psi Chi was founded at Fisher College in 2015. Psi Chi is open to students studying Psychology who meet required academic criteria. Students are eligible for invitation if they meet the following requirements:

Must be enrolled as a major in the psychology program
Have completed at least 3 semester or equivalent of full-time college course work
Have completed at least 9 semester hours or equivalent of psychology courses
Have earned a cumulative GPA that is in the top 35 percent of their class (sophomore, junior, senior) compared to their classmates across the entire college that houses psychology (minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale) 21
Have a minimum 3.0 GPA for psychology courses

Salute - Veterans National Honor Society

SALUTE was formed in 2009 by the Colorado State University Veterans Office thanks to a grant by the American Council of Education and Walmart Foundation. Established in 2019, Fisher College is one of over 200 chapters of the Society. Each chapter symbolizes not only the achievement of veterans bettering themselves through the pursuit of knowledge, but also our commitment as a group to honor those among us who are the tip of the spear.

Sigma Tau Delta

The Sigma Tau Delta, International English Honor society was established at Fisher College in 2023. The Society recognizes achievement in English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies.

Students are eligible for invitation if they meet the following requirements:

Must have completed a minimum of two college courses in English language or literature beyond the usual requirements in freshman English. They do not have to be majoring or minoring in English
Have a minimum of a B or equivalent average in English and in general scholarship, must rank at least in the highest thirty-five percent of his/her class or hold a 3.3 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale
Have completed at least three semesters or five quarters of college course work.

Alternative Spring Break

Other educational experiences available to students consist of an Alternative Spring Break (Habitat for Humanity Service Learning Program) and The Washington Center 12-Credit Internship.
