For Immediate Release - Fisher College is excited to announce John McDonnell, Managing Director International at Tito’s Handmade Vodka, as speaker for the College’s 117th Commencement, addressing the School of Graduate Studies and Undergraduate Professional Studies students.
Born and raised in Boston, McDonnell is an established leader in our community, having worked with several local civic and educational causes, and currently serving as the Chairman of the Board of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, and on the Board of Trustees here at Fisher College.
McDonnell is also a respected executive in the global wine and spirits industry. In his current role at Tito’s Handmade Vodka he leads the worldwide expansion of the well-known Austin, TX-based brand, growing its distribution from just a few international markets eight years ago to 160 countries today. He’s also closely involved in Tito’s global philanthropic efforts, including Emancipet, a network of nonprofit vet clinics which help make pet care affordable and accessible.
Prior to joining Tito’s, McDonnell was Chief Operating Officer at The Patrón Spirits Company where he was instrumental in transforming that little known brand (at the time) to the household name it is today. Under his leadership, Patrón’s revenue multiplied from $75 million to $600 million, becoming the ninth most popular brand in the world, joining the ranks of Google, Apple, and Facebook in terms of global public recognition. At Patrón, McDonnell also directed the company’s industry-leading commitment to environmental responsibility and charitable giving, including the distillery’s widely recognized efforts to recycle, reduce waste, clean the air, and eliminate noise pollution.
McDonnell began his career in the beverage alcohol industry at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons where he spent 18 years in the U.S., Europe and Asia in domestic and global sales and marketing roles.
The commencement will take place on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at the Lawn on D in Boston.
