Fisher College/Liberty Hotel Internship Partnership
Junior Mendoza '10 is the picture of perseverance and determination. When it came time for this Hospitality and Tourism Management major to complete his internship, he followed a lead provided to him by Program Director Richard Metzger and landed an unpaid, 40-hour per week position in the housekeeping department of the Liberty Hotel.
After completing his summer term, Junior was offered a full-time position at the 4 diamond hotel as a Housekeeping Supervisor. Junior now works second shift while completing his senior year of college. While at work, he manages a staff as large as 26, ensuring superb customer service. Junior is so grateful for his opportunity but Brian Lodermeier, Director of Rooms at the Liberty Hotel, says he is the lucky one to have Junior on board!
Fisher College/ Procter and Gamble Internship Partnership
Sonya Newton '11 spent her summer of 2009 as Fisher College's first Procter and Gamble Administrative Intern. Sonya worked in the Human Resources department supporting several important functions. Most recently, she collected and registered over 2,000 employees for the summer employee appreciation day.
As part of being an intern at Procter and Gamble Sonya had to pass a challenging reasoning test and a group interview. Sonya was paid a competitive rate for her 20-week, 40-hour per week internship and will be offered a $500 signing bonus if she returns next summer.
In addition to the Human Resources department Procter and Gamble also has internships available in their finance, accounting, and security departments. The company hopes to introduce some marketing positions in the near future. Eligible students should be in their freshman, sophomore or junior year, and have at least a 2.5 GPA. All interested students should visit the Office of Career Services as soon as possible for additional information.
