Fisher College Receives $75,000 Grant from the Lloyd G. Balfour Foundation
In order to receive the grant, Fisher was required to raise $75,000, which was then matched by the Balfour Foundation. Through the support of the Fisher community and the efforts of the College's Advancement Office, Fisher raised the funds necessary to qualify for the challenge grant.
This marks the fifth consecutive year that the Balfour Foundation has supported Fisher College's efforts to develop and maintain The Common Experience. The program has become an integral part of Fisher's academic profile, evolving from a 1.5 credit elective to a self-sustaining, 3 credit graduation requirement. The program is designed to help students succeed in managing the challenges of college and has subsequently improved retention rates and GPAs.
"Fisher College is grateful to have received such incredible support from the Lloyd G. Balfour Foundation," stated Dr. Thomas M. McGovern, President of Fisher College. "Thanks to their assistance and generosity over the years, we are now prepared to support The Common Experience program independently."
