Faculty and staff from Fisher College presented highly regarded criminal justice research at the 2012 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Criminology in Chicago. The research, conducted with research partners from several universities and public safety institutions, is funded by the National Institute of Justice. The presentation of initial results was very well received and conference attendees expressed substantial interest in the final results to be presented at next year's conference. The initial results presented this year focused on the types and substance of forensic evidence in a sample of adult sexual assault cases reported to hospitals and crime labs in Massachusetts.

The researchers also discussed differences in injury documentation and forensic evidence availability across victim and assault characteristics. The current and upcoming research on this project will link the hospital and crime lab records to respective police data to investigate criminal justice outcomes.
