President McGovern Recognized at Washington DC Academia Gala
WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 1, 2012 – Each year, The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars hosted a black-tie gala to recognize the nation's most influential academic and political advocates of experiential education.
President McGovern, along with ten other College presidents was recognized and brought on stage to be acknowledged with the other honorees. Held Oct. 1, 2012 at the National Building Museum, the gala is also The Washington Center's single largest fundraising event of the year, contributing to the $2 million in scholarships the organization distributes to 80 percent of its students annually.
The Honorable Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI), the Honorable Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Nancy Jacobson, founder and CEO of No Labels Project, were recognized at the gala for their leadership in strengthening and advancing internship experiences.
Legendary journalist and current commentator for ABC News, Cokie Roberts lead the event as Master of Ceremonies. She is a longtime friend of The Washington Center, having spoken to TWC students at numerous events and seminars on the topic of politics and the media.
