Jason Connell, Creator of Changing the World 101, to speak at Fisher
Jason Connell was a 20-year-old liberal arts student in Florida before a semester abroad in China changed his life. He once imagined he would graduate from college, find a decent job, and settle down in the States thereafter. Instead, he discovered a world "outside of America," far removed from the life he'd always known. It was then that he discovered a variety of diverse communities filled with exceptional cultural wealth while also heavily contrasted by severe economic poverty, devastation, and an abundance of sociopolitical obstacles.
Jason Connell created Changing the World 101, a program directed towards American college students that provides inspiration and relevant information on volunteering abroad and learning how to "change the world." Mr. Connell has traveled all over the world to volunteer and has been a part of efforts including developing a micro-lending program in Uganda, researching globalization effects in Thailand, and teaching HIV/AIDS prevention to high-risk children in South Africa.
