Research Analyst (Boston)


The Office of Institutional Research at Fisher College is seeking a full-time research analyst.  The Office provides information and analyses in support of Fisher College’s planning and decision-making, policy formation, and assessment throughout the College. The Office furthermore supports the Center of Leadership in Public Service at Fisher College in conducting social science research with a focus on public safety research.  The Research Analyst will be a member of a team that provides analytical and technical assistance for both ad hoc and cyclical reporting under the direction of the Director of Institutional Research. The Research Analyst will additionally be expected to contribute to multiple ongoing public safety research projects as part of his or her duties.

Education requirements:

 

Bachelor's Degree. Master’s Degree preferred.

Qualifications:

The candidate should have at least two years' research experience in institutional research or social science research. This should include experience in quantitative/statistical analysis, preferably multivariate statistics, to contribute to the design and execution of research/evaluation studies. Candidates should have solid knowledge and experience working with large data sets, including the design of survey instruments, data collection processes, data analysis (descriptive and inferential statistics), and writing reports on findings of the research. Candidates should furthermore have demonstrated experience with relational databases, data queries, and data extraction techniques including the ability to import, merge, and export files between software applications, perform analyses, and prepare reports.

Preference will be given to candidates with an educational background in Social Sciences, Information Technology, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related field and/or experience in the use of statistical software packages (e.g. SPSS, STATA, or SAS), Structured Query Language (SQL), and reporting tools such as Crystal Report or others. Experience with IPEDS, CDS, and other typical institutional research data collections is considered a plus.
