Health Insurance
Massachusetts law requires that all college students in our state have health insurance with some minimum standards in place.
The Fisher Student Health Insurance Plan (FSHIP) meets a specific level of benefits as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. If you are enrolled in at least 75 percent of a full-time curriculum you will be automatically enrolled in the FSHIP, although if you are already covered under an existing comparable U.S.-based insurance plan you can waive the FSHIP enrollment online.

Enrolling in or Waiving the FSHIP
Every year all students must enroll or waive the FSHIP online. You may do this by clicking on the blue button on the upper right hand corner of this page. For students who plan to waive the insurance, it is important to read our Health Insurance Waiver Eligibility page to make sure that your current health insurance plan is a a suitable alternative.
We strongly encourage students to enroll as early as possible. The earlier a student enrolls, the earlier they will receive the health insurance card.
Financial Responsibility
The student's account will automatically be billed for the FSHIP. This plan provides coverage for most typical problems that students encounter while at college. If a student wishes to reject this insurance and have the charge removed from their bill, they must waive the FSHIP.
It is essential to have insurance coverage that will pay for medical care in the Boston area. Many out-of-area insurance companies are restrictive about what services they will pay for when you are away from home. Please ask specifically what services are covered by your insurance company prior to coming to campus. Your insurance should have equal or better coverage for medical services if you plan to waive the FSHIP.
