Information Regarding Presidential Executive Order on Immigration
On Friday, January 27, President Donald Trump issued an Executive Order affecting travel to the United States. The order restricts entry for immigrants and non-immigrants from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen for 90 days. Below is the statement made by Dr. Thomas McGovern, President of Fisher Collage, regarding the matter. Fisher College will share any updates as they become available.
Dear Fisher Community,
We are a proud nation of immigrants, and Fisher’s community is made more powerful and dynamic precisely because of that diversity. We are, as always, committed to supporting all members of our community.
On Friday evening, President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order that, among other things, restricts international students from Syria, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen from entering or re-entering the United States. The full effect of this executive order is still in flux, and therefore we will continue to monitor the impact that it may have upon the Fisher Community.
We are most fortunate to have a Center for International Programs and Services, staffed by professionals willing and able to assist anyone in need of support (email@example.com or 617 -236-8814). Other resources such as our Dean of Students, Shiela Lally, (firstname.lastname@example.org or 617-236-4421) and our General Counsel, Carolina Avellaneda, (email@example.com; 617-236-8859) are also available.
Massachusetts has always been a leader and beacon of light on our founding principles of liberty and equality, inclusion and respect for diversity. Today, Fisher College reaffirms its deep commitment to those values and to the safety and support of our extended Fisher family.
