MG310 Principles of Ethics and Leadership in Sports Management

Prerequisites: EN102, and MG 220, or MG 201.

In this class, students will learn the theories, qualities, and characteristics that define leadership in athletics. They will learn how to distinguish between management and leadership and understand the value and significance of leadership within an athletic organization. Students will study ethical issues in sports, including use of performance
enhancing drugs, cheating and deception, violence, the role of a coach as an authority figure, whether sports build moral character, and the nature of sportsmanship. Diverse views on leadership, ethics, and the connection between them will be explored.
