HT282 Medical Coding Professional Practice

Prerequisites: CS 101, HT 101 and HT 213, with a C or better.

This capstone course requires students to demonstrate knowledge and application of coding principles, and provides exposure to automated encoding software and billing systems. Students spend 80 hours coding physician, inpatient and outpatient cases, and acquiring hands-on experience with DRG's and APC's. Students spend 10 hours on written assignments relevant to the class. The student will receive a pass or fail score.
