Program Overview

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Online Only)

The professional nursing program at Fisher College is dedicated to the Registered Nurse learner who is committed to acquiring new knowledge and skills for practice. Our graduates will be prepared to face the changing healthcare culture and be leaders in the nursing profession. The nursing program incorporates an approach to learning that recognizes the uniqueness of every adult learner as well as the educational and practice accomplishments each student acquired prior to enrolling in the nursing program.

The curriculum is developed to recognize the RN’s existing knowledge and skills while  simultaneously providing a foundation for new knowledge in informatics and information literacy, healthcare economics, research, population-based practice, and leadership. With this foundation, graduates will be ready to contribute to improved clinical practice outcomes, new care-delivery methodologies, and/or further study in graduate school.

Faculty and students have shared responsibility in the teaching/learning process that takes place in a fully online environment. The curriculum is delivered through utilization of Blackboard and the live video sessions via Collaborate. Students are supported by an academic and online advisor. Students engage in a faculty directed "practice experience" in the Leadership, Population Health and Capstone nursing courses. Faculty deliver the nursing program using flexible teaching strategies that promote students’ self-development and advancement. Recognizing the diversity in student perspectives, faculty shape educational outcomes through learning activities of dialogue, debate, and collaboration.
