About Need-Based Grants

Most grants and scholarships funded by Fisher College require that a student demonstrate financial need. Most need-based grants and scholarships are awarded for a total of eight academic semesters. An academic semester is a term in which a student is enrolled in classes and paying Fisher tuition. Students must continue to make uninterrupted progress toward their degrees and maintain their academic standing in order to receive grant funding.
  • Grants do not need to be repaid
  • Students who complete the necessary application requirements will be considered for all eligible need-based grants.
  • Most incoming students are awarded a four-year Fisher College Trustee Grant.
Determining Award Amounts

Each application for assistance is reviewed to determine the student's eligibility for all types of financial aid. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the primary document used by Fisher College to collect information on a family's financial situation and determine financial need.* The same standards are applied to all applicants. Your Offer of Financial Assistance is derived from a number of factors. We begin with the estimated cost of attendance. From this, we subtract the Student Aid Index (SAI),* which is derived from information you submitted on the FAFSA, to arrive at your financial need. In addition to the need component, Fisher College recognizes a student's academic potential when awarding institutional grant funds.

*Financial Need - The difference between the cost of education and the Student Aid Index (SAI) is your financial need. It is Fisher College's intent to meet as much of a student's financial need as available funds will allow. An aid package may include a combination of grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study.

*Student Aid Index (SAI) - Starting in the 2024-2025 AY, the SAI will be used to determine aid. The SAI is determined by a completed FAFSA.
