Grants and Scholarships

The Dr. Thomas McGovern Memorial Scholarship fund will provide aid in the form of scholarships to qualified Fisher College students. The scholarship(s) will be awarded to candidates based on the qualities and attributes that best embody the generous and compassionate spirit of Dr. Thomas McGovern, eighth President of Fisher College.

The selection process will consider the following criteria: demonstrated financial need and high school/college academic achievement, with a preference given to students who wish to pursue an undergraduate degree in Management (including all concentrations), Marketing, or Sport Management at Fisher College.

The funds will provide $2,500 scholarship(s) annually until the fund is depleted. The intent of the fund is to distribute 1 to 3 scholarships annually to new and current Fisher College students, with the Scholarship Review Committee retaining flexibility in determining both the amount of the awards and the number of awards given. The scholarship is not renewable.

A Scholarship Review Committee, consisting of Elaine McGovern and members of the Fisher College faculty or staff will review the applicants and grant awards annually, or as determined by the Committee. The first year of disbursement will be the 2024-2025 academic year. The application deadline for the 2024-2025 Academic Year is May 1, 2024.

• Scholarship is based on need.
• Students must show academic achievement.
• Students must have the ability to enrich the Fisher College campus.
• Students must apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA.

A maximum 500-word essay answering the following “describe a prior life experience that either demonstrates your character or helped you shape it” will be submitted by the student to the Scholarship Review Committee.

Grants are awarded by the Fisher College Financial Aid Office to full-time, traditional, degree-seeking students who demonstrate financial need as a result of filing the FAFSA. Students must apply for financial aid and file a FAFSA annually to be considered for any type of Fisher Grant. Funds are credited to tuition accounts after the add/drop period each semester.

Fisher Trustee Grant: Awarded to full-time, traditional undergraduate degree seeking students on the basis of demonstrated financial need and as funding levels permit. Award amounts vary. Grant is renewed annually.

Resident Assistant Scholarship: Students selected to be RA’s on the Boston Campus are eligible for a non-need based scholarship of $3,500 per semester. To see if you are eligible, please contact the Fisher College Housing Office on the Boston Campus.

• Applicants must be full-time, day students who have completed a minimum of 15 credits at Fisher College.
• Applicants must intend to enroll in an experiential learning program for the Spring or Summer 2024 semester.

The Walker Scholarship Fund will provide aid in the form of scholarships to qualified Fisher College students. The scholarships will be awarded to candidates based on the qualities and attributes that best embody the mission, vision and values of the College, and demonstrate financial need as a result of filing the FAFSA.

At the request of the donor, Fisher College will distribute one scholarship each academic year, beginning with the 2024-2025 Academic Year, in the amount of $2,500 ($1,250 per fall and spring semesters). The awarding and distribution of the Walker Scholarship will continue each Academic Year until funding for the scholarship has been depleted.

Application, Eligibility and Requirements:

The Scholarship Review Committee, consisting of Pamela Walker, a member of the Fisher College faculty or staff (who will be selected by the College President), and the Director of Financial Aid, will review scholarship submissions and notify the selected recipient within 2 weeks of the application deadline.

The application deadline, for the 2024-2025 Academic Year, is April 5, 2024.

Scholarships are based on the following:

- Students must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).

- Students must be a Sophomore, Upper Class, or Transfer Student and show Academic Achievement.

- Students must show an ability to enrich the Fisher College campus. For example, participating in Fisher College student activities, stay connected with other Fisher College students through academics and other activities, and help continue to grow the Fisher College campus.

- Students must demonstrate financial need and apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA.

• A minimum 500-word essay reflecting on the following Fisher College value statement:

Service to the Larger World. Fisher College values advancing the common good through civic engagement, community service, environmental stewardship, and the public discussion of ideas. Please provide examples about your Fisher College experiences and/or how you’re making an impact as a Fisher College student in alignment with these Fisher values.
