Suzanne Baldaia

In addition to design, Professor Baldaia loves the historic, social, and philosophical aspects of dress and culture. She has been an educator at several New England institutions, and has taught students on summer study abroad in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Copenhagen. She has held positions in music marketing, graphic design, apparel design, and costuming. Additionally, she has years of manufacturing and retailing experience, including positions in visual merchandising management.

Professor Baldaia loves to teach students through service learning and has participated extensively in Celebrate RI-Rhode Island Governor & Mrs. Carcieri's ball for the Salvation Army Good Neighbor Energy Fund. Her research "Space Age Fashion" was published as a chapter by Berg Publishers in Twentieth Century American Fashion in 2004. She presented her most recent research- "Fashion Semiotics and the Product Lifecycle: Tools for Competing in Global and Post-Global Trade"-at the United States International Trade Commission in Washington DC. Currently she is studying for her doctorate in the humanities at Salve Regina University while taking her students on their educational journey at Fisher.
