Program Mission & Learning Outcomes

Program Mission

The Associate in Science in Health Sciences program will provide students who are interested in the health sciences with a strong curriculum based in the biological sciences, humanities, and social sciences. The curriculum is designed for students whose goal is to transfer to a baccalaureate degree program in nursing or another health science-related program.  

Program Learning Outcomes

This program will provide students with the opportunity to develop the following competencies:
  • Demonstrate a foundation of knowledge in the natural sciences based on theory and laboratory skills
  • Be able to use the Scientific Method to gather information and to come to conclusions
  • Demonstrate the ability to think critically and to be able to solve problems by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data
  • Display good communication skills 
  • Demonstrate an understanding of cultural and social issues
