Strategic Plan

Goal 1: Fisher College will continue to educate the campus community about sustainability through a multi-level approach, implementing key initiatives across campus

Objective 1.1 Spread awareness of all developments from 2010-2011 and develop a system for keeping the campus community up-to-date with current sustainability initiatives.

Work with EcoReps to build on last year's momentum, showcasing our projects across campus in an organized approach. Include: the Hallway green board, cafeteria signage/napkin holders, email blasts, website posts, articles in quarterly magazine, events, and Facebook interactions.Work with Student Activities & Communications to showcase all the GREEN events happening on campus.

Objective 1.2 Work with the Convocation Committee to create a presentation for a campus convocation inspiring campus members to get engaged in sustainability on and off campus.

Goal 2: Work with faculty to integrate sustainability into the classroom and curriculum

Objective 2.1 Attend faculty meeting to introduce a multi-layer approach to engaging sustainability in the classroom.

Create a presentation to highlight simple practices for going green in the classroom, as well as present several unique ideas for including sustainability in classroom discussion and content. Create a survey and arena for following up with interested faculty.Host a lunch meeting for follow up discussion.

Objective 2.2 Attend Common Experience meeting to introduce a multi-layer approach to engaging sustainability in the classroom.

Work with the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs to integrate sustainability into the common experience program. Provide the opportunity for individual class presentations.

Create a survey and arena for following up with interested faculty.Host a lunch meeting for follow up discussion

Goal 3: Expand presence and awareness in students' daily life

Objective 3.1 Expand the scope of the EcoRep program to collaborate with the Residential Life programs and events.

Increase sustainability exposure and awareness utilizing monthly themes as opportunities to educate the campus community. Pilot concept of Dorm Room Certification program.

Objective 3.2 Further incorporate sustainability in the dining services available across campus.

Work with Aramark's Green Thread program.Coordinate an incentive program.

Goal 4: Fisher College will implement Phase Two of the recycling program: an expansion of recycling across campus and into the dorms (research compost feasibility)

Objective 4.1 Move from Phase 1 to Phase 2 of single-stream recycling program.

Find creative ways to engage students in proper recycling behaviors.

Objective 4.2 Research and pilot a composting program.

Goal 5: Fisher College will aim to participate on and off campus with current sustainability events and activities underway.

Objective 5.1 Students and/or staff/faculty will participate in off campus and national events or programs (i.e., Focus The Nation, Earth Hour, Earth Day, Recyclemania, etc.)

Objective 5.2 The Fisher community will work to host a Spring Sustainability Event on campus and invite speakers, presenters, and members of the broader community.

Goal 6: Fisher will continue to integrate sustainability into the institutional framework and operations of the College.

Objective 6.1 Expand Sustainability Committee.

Recruit new members.

Objective 6.2 Conduct campus-wide energy conservation campaign.

Create framework to sustain annual campaign.Institute ongoing CFL light bulb exchange program.

Objective 6.3 Develop a quantification system for tracking and benchmarking progress of all initiatives.

Objective 6.4 Incorporate Strategic Plan into College Master Plan.
