Melinda Cook, MBA, Ed.D., Vice President of Strategy and Planning/Chief of Staff
Dr. Melinda Cook is Vice President and Chief of Staff for President Thomas McGovern at Fisher College in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Cook joined the college in 2008, and oversees the Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations Department, the Office of Institutional Research, the Information Services and Technology Department, and the Office of the President. She also serves as a strategic advisor to the president and, as a member of the Executive Council, is involved in all aspects of the institution’s operations and planning, including setting college-wide policy and working with faculty, staff, and the Board of Trustees to enhance institutional quality and continually improve the student experience. Dr. Cook has led the institution’s strategic planning efforts and has recently published the new plan for 2017-2021: Advancing Fisher College.
Prior to joining the team at Fisher College, Dr. Cook was a Senior Program Manager and the Director of Operational Systems for the Center for Technology Commercialization (CTC), where she oversaw Financial Systems, Corporate Services, Information Management and Information Technology. A non-profit, CTC was focused on working with first responders to understand their technology needs, and then bring an understanding of these needs to inventors, researchers, and private industry to solve problems, refine standards, and improve designs to create better and safer equipment. Prior to joining CTC, Dr. Cook spent four years working with Medimetrix Consulting as an Associate with their Strategy & Networks practice where she developed strategic planning and implementation initiatives for health systems and hospitals through clinical service line portfolio analysis, market research and analysis, financial modeling, merger analysis and scenario development, budget forecasting and reconciliation, and extensive database development.
Dr. Cook holds an Ed.D. from Northeastern University, an M.B.A. from Northeastern University, a B.A. in Economics from the Colorado College, and a B.A. in English from the Colorado College.
Ellen Lyons, LL.b., Human Resources Manager/office manager and Executive Assistant to the President
Ellen Lyons, LL.B., is the Human Resources Manager/Office Manager and Executive assistant to the President at Fisher College. Ms. Lyons is responsible for managing the operations of the Office of the President and serving as the primary administrative contact and liaison for internal and external constituents.
Prior to joining Fisher, Ms. Lyons was a paralegal/legal secretary with McCarter & English, LLP, in Boston, MA. Prior to McCarter & English, Ms. Lyons was the manager/consultant for Team Air Express (now Team Worldwide) in East Boston, MA. Before moving to the east coast, she was with EDC (Eviction Defense Clinic) and Tenderloin Housing Clinic in San Francisco, CA.
Ms. Lyons holds an LL.B. degree from the New College of California School of Law, and attended Boston College for her undergraduate degree.
