New Student Orientation

Dear Incoming Students,

We are eagerly awaiting your arrival at Fisher College, and look forward to seeing you at our mandatory New Student Orientation, August 30-September 1, 2008. Orientation is an exceedingly important time when you will build a strong foundation for your success in College--learning about what will be expected of you, how you can participate in, and contribute to, the various aspects of College life, and how you can form the long-lasting connections with students, faculty and staff that are essential for student success.

Here is your Fall 2008 Orientation Weekend Schedule!
(A detailed itinerary with locations will be available upon your arrival)

Saturday, August 30: Arrive at 116 Beacon Street (Student Entrance)

ALL NEW STUDENTS

9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: New Residents, New Commuters, New Transfers and New International Students Move-In/Check-In/Clearance

12:15 p.m. - 1:15 p.m.: New Students Luncheon

1:30 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.: New Student Placement Testing

3:45 p.m. - 5 p.m.: New International Student Orientation

3:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.: Meet your Orientation Leaders

5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.: Dinner & Ice Cream Social

6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.: New Residents - Housing Meeting

7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.: Carnival Board Game

Sunday, August 31: Check-in continues at One Arlington Street (2nd floor Ballroom)

8 a.m. - 10 a.m.: Check-In Continues

All students gather at 116 Beacon Street for the following:

10 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.: Provost Welcome

10:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.: Orientation Leaders Skits

11:45 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Grab & Go Lunch with your Orientation Leaders

2 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.: "Demystifying College Success" Presentation

2:45 p.m. - 3 p.m. : Break

3 p.m. - 5:35 p.m.: Students will break out into groups to either have a free period for taking care of remaining business (e.g. buying books, getting ID cards) or to attend sessions in Diversity Training and Career Services.

5:45 p.m. - 7 p.m.: All New Students - Dinner with Orientation Leaders

7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.: All New Students - Tour Boston with Orientation Leaders
(Tour areas such as Faneuil Hall and/or Harvard Square)

Monday, September 1st

8 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.: Breakfast with Orientation Leaders

8:45 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.: ALL NEW DEGREE (NOT CERTIFICATE) STUDENTS WITH NO TRANSFER CREDITS
- MAPP Assessment

NEW STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT YET REGISTERED

9:50 a.m. - 10:05 a.m.: Meet with Advisors

10:05 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.: Class Registration with Advisors

RETURNING STUDENTS

10 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Move-In/Check-In/Get Cleared

10:10 a.m. - 10:50 a.m.: Orientation Leaders skits

STUDENTS WHO ATTENDED SUMMER REGISTRATION

10:10 a.m. - 10:50 a.m. : Orientation Leader Skits w/Laura & Johnny (SA)

10:50 a.m. - 11 a.m. : Walk with Orientation Leaders to Public Gardens

11a.m.- 12 p.m.: Swan Boats & Public Gardens

12 p.m. - 12:15 p.m.: Return to Fisher for Lunch

12 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.: BBQ Luncheon for Everyone!

2:15 p.m. - 3 p.m. : ALL NEW STUDENTS - CIRP

3 p.m. : Get Ready for the Dinner/Boat Cruise

5:30 p.m. : Line up, board buses, and depart for the Boat!
(Buses front of 116 Beacon)

6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.: Dinner/Dance Cruise with Orientation Leaders & RAs
