FISHER FOR LIFE
Frequently Asked Questions
Fisher For Life
A benefit program
for Fisher Alums
What is Fisher for Life?
Fisher for Life (FfL) is a new program offered by Fisher College to qualified
alumni who are interested in returning to school. FfL is offered through
the College's Division of Continuing Education,
which for 30 years has provided adults with skills and training to advance
their careers. Traditional as well as on-line programs (Fisher Online) provide
adult learners with flexible course offerings.
What is a qualified Fisher College alumnus?
A qualified alumnus is a Fisher College graduate who earned an associate's
or baccalaureate degree at least 12 months prior to enrollment in FfL and
has not taken a Fisher College course during that time.
What is Fisher Online and virtual learning?
While many are more comfortable in a classroom setting, thousands of students
find Fisher Online a convenient way to learn. Courses are available on the
Internet through the "Blackboard Learning System" and use a combination of
easy to learn interactive discussions, text-based assignments, reading materials,
writing projects, CD/DVD exercises, and links to supplementary web-based
materials that create dynamic online learning experiences. Online students
comment that they have become more active learners, understand the material
more completely, and write more proficiently after taking online courses.
The connectivity of the Internet allows students from across the country
and around the world to share the learning experience. "Blended" courses,
which combine classroom and online learning, are also available. For more
about Fisher Online, visit http://online.fisher.edu.
What courses are available through Fisher for Life?
Subject to space availability, FfL applies to any three credit course offered
by the Division of Continuing Education. Students must take the course for
credit (noncredit audit courses do not apply). A student may enroll in no
more than two courses per session, four in any calendar year, and ten courses
total. FfL will commence with the March 12, 2007 session. FfL is subject
to change.
What is the financial advantage of participating in Fisher for Life?
A 25% discount is applied to the cost of any traditional or online course.
Fees and books are not covered by the discount. State and federal financial
grants may be used to pay for a course.
