CORPORATIONS & FOUNDATIONS
Fisher College has special relationships with several corporate
philanthropies and family foundations, some of whom are showcased
below in recognition of their support.
The
Citizens Bank Foundation recently awarded Fisher College $25,000
to assist four day students and four adult learners with the cost
of tuition. This second corps of Citizens Scholars includes Marlene
Gonzalez '09 of Roxbury, Massachusetts, Luis
Colon '10 of Jamaica
Plain, Massachusetts, Kenny Rivera '09 of Hyde Park,
Massachusetts, Stephen
Rice '10 of Roxbury,
Massachusetts, Anna Maria Recupero '10 of Malden,
Massachusetts,
Franchesca Martinez '09 of Roxbury, Massachusetts, Catherine
Calutti '10 of Malden, Massachusetts, and Carleshia
Johnson '11 of Brockton,
Massachusetts.
The
Lloyd G. Balfour Foundation awarded Fisher $80,000 over three years
to solidify and expand the freshman experience program known as The
Common Experience. The aim of The Common Experience is to more
effectively engage and empower freshmen. By better equipping students
for higher education and the world of work upon entering Fisher,
The Common Experience will ease students' transition to college and,
ultimately, increase performance and persistence. Among the grant-funded
activities are credit-bearing seminars, a themed speaker series,
Student Mentors, and other skills sessions that acculturate students
to the critical first year.
As the College expands its partnership capacity and elevates its
academic offerings through new baccalaureate degrees, corporate and
foundation support will remain vital to providing access to Fisher's
outstanding student-centered education.
