Leave of Absence Policy
During your time at Fisher College, you may have a medical, psychological,
or personal situation that impacts your ability to complete your studies
successfully. In these situations you may apply for a leave of absence.
A leave of absence will result in withdrawal from current semester classes
but will not result in withdrawal from the college. You can remain in this
status for up to two years (four day school semesters, eight DCE/online
terms). To apply for a leave of absence, you must contact the Associate
Dean for Academic Affairs to obtain the complete instructions. When ready
to return, you must again contact the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
to file the return request form and provide appropriate documentation to
establish your ability to return to the college.
Short -Term Medical Leave
Policy
If a student will miss more than the permissible absences for courses due
to a documented medical condition, the student is required to contact each
faculty member to discuss his/her status in the class. The student's status
and permission to complete the course are at the discretion of each instructor.
If the student is not able to complete the semester, he/she can apply for
a leave of absence.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE INSTUCTIONS
Write a letter stating the reason(s) you would like to take a leave, what you plan to do while you are away, and when you plan to return. Please remember to include your Student ID number and your current contact information including your address, telephone number, and e-mail address.
Complete course withdrawal forms to drop all your classes. Withdrawal forms are available in the Fisher College Registrar's office on the 1st floor of 108 Beacon Street. If you are already off-campus, you may request that your courses be dropped without a form by speaking with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
