Chief Warrant Officer Charles Synnott is College’s Latest Adopted Soldier

Fisher College is pleased to announce they will be paying tribute to veterans and active duty service members during its 3rd Annual Adopt-a-Soldier program. This year, Fisher College has adopted Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles Synnott of Belmont, MA.

“Of all the initiatives we offer at Fisher College, our Adopt-a-Soldier program is one I hold in special regard,” said Dr. Tom McGovern, president of Fisher College. “As a former veteran of the U.S. Army myself, I recognize and believe firsthand in the value our military serves our country. Synnott’s appointment as our next adopted soldier was deliberate; he’s demonstrated to us his commitment to protecting and serving our country.”

Synnott has been a full-time instructor pilot with the National Guard for the last few years. In 2010, he was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn, and again this summer to the Bagram Air Force Base in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Fisher College held a collection drive for Synnott from December 2-16, 2013. As a result, three large boxes of gifts were delivered to him in Afghanistan where he was stationed through the holidays.

Fisher created its Adopt-a-Soldier program in 2009. Last year, the college adopted two soldiers into its program: First Lieutenant Chris Leonard and First Lieutenant Elizabeth Connors.

Recognitions About Fisher's Adopt-a-Soldier Program
Fisher created their Adopt-a-Soldier program, independent of the traditional Adopt-a-Soldier affiliation, in 2009. All of the soldiers who benefit from the program have a personal connection to the College, i.e. a former student, family friend, etc. The Adopt-a-Soldier program began through a suggestion of Mike Wall, former Admissions Counselor, who is currently serving in the National Guard.
