Boston, MA –Fisher College is proud to announce that Patrick Shanahan, former baseball student-athlete and Haverhill, MA resident, has been selected to the Fisher College Athletics Hall of Fame as the only inductee of the Class of 2013.

Shanahan was inducted in to the Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 26th at a ceremony held at Fisher College.

He came to Fisher College in the fall of 2006 as a left handed pitcher, fighting for a spot out of the bullpen. After a very successful fall season, Shanahan proved to be a very reliable option for Head Coach Scott Dulin in 2007-2008.  He went on to make 37 appearances out of the bullpen in his first two seasons and struck out 50 hitters in just 35 innings pitched.  With a strong class of starters departing the program after the 2008 season, Shanahan quickly made the move from closer to starter for his final two seasons. He became the best left-handed pitcher in program history as he compiled a 10-5 record with 152 strikeouts in 102.2 inning pitched.

His best performance came in 2009 when he pitched the Falcons to their first ever National post-season win with a complete game shutout of Brescia University. In that game, Shanahan allowed six hits while striking out five and not issuing a single base on balls as he faced just 34 hitters over nine innings.  Shanahan finished his career as the College’s all-time leader in Appearances (61) and Strikeouts (202).

Over his four seasons in Fisher Blue, he recorded a win-loss mark of 13-6 with 3 saves and a 3.57 ERA. He pitched more than 143 innings, allowing just 114 hits and 56 earned runs. Shanahan was named to the Sunrise Conference All-Conference team three times (2008-2010), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics twice (2009-2010) and was a NAIA All-American Honorable Mention in 2010.

“Patrick is one of the most dominating pitchers we’ve ever had at Fisher College,” said Coach Dulin. “After being cut from his high school team, Patrick never gave up on pitching. He joined our team and through hard work, proved that he can be highly effective. He was the only Fisher pitcher to win twice at the Super Regional level of postseason. His strike out ratio is a record that will be difficult to beat at Fisher College.”

Shanahan graduated from Fisher College in 2011, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He currently gives back to his alma mater by serving as Coach Dulin’s Bullpen Coach on the baseball team.
