I love to write. I love words. I love wrestling with words in order to produce inventive writing. To me, books are magic boxes that, once opened, can lead to greater awareness and understanding. In the classroom, my enthusiasm for the written word, for literature, and for learning in general is my primary asset. In addition to all the other things I do as a teacher—guiding, assisting, disseminating information—I try to instill in my students an appreciation for the craft of writing, which is really a means—a very powerful and creative means—of self-expression and exploration.
