Whitey Bulger Biographer to Speak at Fisher College
Posted On: 8/14/2013 3:14 PM
Fisher College is proud to announce today the addition of New York Times Bestselling author Dick Lehr to its acclaimed speaker series; Lessons Learned: A Six Part Series for 2013-2014. Lehr is the co-author of Whitey: The Life of America’s Most Notorious Mob Boss and Black Mass among several other books.
Dick Lehr is considered to be one of the world’s preeminent experts on Whitey Bulger, newly convicted of eleven mob murders and suspected of eight more. Lehr was one of the few journalists allowed in to cover Bulger’s explosive trial on a daily basis and will discuss what it was like to see the infamous South Boston crime boss come face to face with his former gang members and even his enemies. As a former reporter for the Boston Globe, Lehr spent years investigating Whitey Bulger’s bloody rise to power and his escape from the law – an escape that made him one of America’s Most Wanted fugitives. Lehr and co-author Gerard O’Neil were the first journalists to expose the frightening scope of Bulger’s crimes in their classic book Black Mass (now in development as a major motion picture). Lehr’s 2013 follow-up Whitey gave readers a behind the scenes look at Bulger’s dramatic capture while also delving even deeper into the psyche of the murderous mob boss.
A Q&A session and book signing will follow the author’s speech.
