HT101 Introduction to Health Information Technology

Prerequisite: HT102 with a C or better

Supervised Professional Practice I is a course designed to familiarize the student with professional applications of health information technology theories and practices. In this 120-hour virtual internship, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate and apply knowledge and skill learned in class in a virtual work environment through functions such as management of medical record content; admission procedures; discharge analysis and abstracting; record control and file maintenance and tumor registry process, use of quality improvement tools, and health care statistics compilation.
