Fisher College is pleased to announce the recent hire of William G. Chase, former Chief of the Westwood Police Department, as the Director of Public Safety.

Chief Chase’s wealth of experience in the public service sector will provide invaluable knowledge and expertise in his oversight of Fisher College’s public safety department. Before joining Fisher College, Chase held the position of Chief of the Westwood Police Department for over nine years. Prior to that, he was the Chief of the Harvard Police Department for almost eight years after serving as the Assistant to the Chief of the Framingham Police Department. In addition, he was a Special Agent for the U.S. Department of Labor for five years before his start in the public service sector at the Watertown Police Department where he served for nine years.

As the Director of Public Safety at Fisher College, Chase will oversee all campus safety initiatives concerning students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus assets. Chase will be responsible for the development of Fisher’s emergency preparation and modes of response. He will also develop and implement policies and procedures, manage security activities, analyze crime trends, oversee incident reports and investigations, and act as the point person who liaises between external law enforcement and campus security. Additionally, Chase will play an integral role in the development and execution of Fisher College’s new transportation safety initiative. He will work in coordination with Fisher students and the Bacchus Network to reach out to local high schools to raise awareness of safe driving practices for teens.

Fisher College will hold an open house for the Back Bay neighborhood to meet Chief Chase on March 27, 2013 from 5:00-6:00pm in the Trustees Reading Room at 118 Beacon Street, Boston. Light food and refreshments will be served. To RSVP for this event, email Jennifer Courtney at

“I look forward to fulfilling my role on campus and to my involvement in Fisher’s new transportation safety initiative,” states Chief Chase, Director of Public Safety at Fisher College. “It is my hope that our combined efforts will benefit not only Fisher College students, but the surrounding communities as a whole.”

“At Fisher College, we are focused on campus and student safety,” states Dr. Thomas M. McGovern, President of Fisher College. “It is an honor to have Chief Chase join our team as the Director of Public Safety. We are confident that he will further enhance the safety initiatives and practices that are an integral part of life here at the College.”
