Tim Bawmann, Record-Setting Baseball Manager

(BOSTON, MA l April 9, 2013) – Fisher College is pleased to announce that Tim Bawmann, President and General Manager of the Lowell Spinners, will speak at Fisher College’s Convocation Speaker Series on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 12:30pm in Fisher College’s Alumni Hall, 118 Beacon Street, Boston. This event will be open to the public and free of charge.

Mr. Bawmann marked his 23rd season in minor league baseball and his 9th season as a General Manager of the Lowell Spinners in 2012. His baseball career began in 1988 as an Assistant to the General Manager of the Beloit Brewers. He then joined the Houston Astros for their spring training in Kissimmee, Florida and was promoted to General Manager and Spring Training Coordinator in 1991. In 1997, he became Vice President/General Manager of the Quad City River Bandits who won two Stadium Operations Awards in their division. Mr. Bawmann then returned to the Florida State League as the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Brevard County Manatees in 2003, and in 2004 he joined the Lowell Spinners as General Manager.

During his time with the Lowell Spinners, Mr. Bawmann has overseen numerous record-setting attendance marks, including the team’s first season over 200,000 attendees in 2010 and a sell-out streak of over 400 games. Additionally, Mr. Bawmann’s staff established pre-season marketing franchise records from 2004 to 2008. Mr. Bawmann has also contributed to the addition of summer baseball camps, sleep-over camp-outs on the field, and an annual “Spreadin’ The Love Tour” to the Spinners lineup.

Fisher College will co-sponsor the Lowell Spinner’s Camo Duffle Bag Night on July 30, 2013. Additionally, Fisher College and the Lowell Spinners will donate 100 game tickets to local military organizations.

About the Lowell Spinners

The Spinners have enjoyed fifteen successful seasons in Lowell as a Class-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. The present owner, Drew Weber, has owned the team since 1997. In 1999, the Spinners sold out 34 of 38 games, drawing a team record 180,077 fans. For the 2000 through 2009 seasons, the Spinners sold every single ticket, becoming the first team in professional sports to accomplish such a feat. Season tickets have consistently reached the limit of 1,600 each season, with a waiting list stretching out nearly six years.
