TV News Pioneer Turned Reverend to Serve as Distinguished Speaker
(April 13, 2017) Boston, Ma. – Fisher College is proud to announce today that local television legend and Reverend Liz Walker will
serve as distinguished Commencement Speaker at its 113th Commencement Ceremony at the John Hancock Hall in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11 a.m.
Reverend Walker broke the color barrier in the City of Boston in 1981as the first African-American to co-anchor a television news program. Her esteemed career at WBZ-TV spanned 21 years and served as an inspiration for young journalists not only in New England, but around the country. As a reporter, Reverend Walker’s most memorable assignment was traveling to Africa to cover the Lost Boys of Sudan, and the modern day slave trade. Her eye opening reports earned her the Edward R. Murrow Award for Journalist Excellence.
President McGovern’s Leadership Generates Decade of Growth

Dr. Thomas McGovern.
President McGovern will retire at the close of the academic year, June 30, 2017.
President McGovern has led Fisher College, located in the heart of Boston’s historic Back Bay, for the past decade after being appointed as the eighth president of the institution in 2007.
Under President McGovern’s leadership, Fisher College has experienced unprecedented success and has evolved into one of the fastest-growing institutions of higher education in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Fisher was selected from more than 100 digital courseware initiatives in the Online Learning Consortium’s first-ever #DLIAward competition

Unique, Dual-Association Athletic Conference is slated to compete beginning in the 2017-2018 season
(November 9, 2016) Fisher College is extremely pleased to announce the formation of the Northeast Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (NIAC). Fisher is among five northeast-area institutions that will comprise the NIAC, which involved two years of discussions with more than a dozen institutions.
