(July 17, 2017) Boston, MA: Melanie Appleman has been named the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach on July 13, 2017 for the inaugural season of the program at Fisher College.
Previously Appleman had been Head Women’s Volleyball coach at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. While at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Coach Appleman led a Female Diversity Pilot Program in order to improve the goals of the Academy’s Five Year Strategic Plan, and managed to increase the number of female athlete inquires, and the Volleyball prospects, by 800 percent.
Lindberg Steps Down, Associate Head Coach Takes on New Role
(May 9, 2017) Boston, MA: Rob Blouin has been named Head Men's Basketball Coach, replacing Head Coach David Lindberg, who is retiring after 12-years at the helm.
“It has been an honor to have spent the last six years coaching with Dave here at Fisher”, said Blouin. “The experience and guidance he has provided during that time has prepared me to confidently take over as head coach, and is something which I’ll be eternally grateful for. Dave has not only been a mentor to me, but a close friend as well. I know I have big shoes to fill, but I look forward to the opportunity to further continue the success we have experienced at Fisher.”
TV News Pioneer Turned Reverend to Serve as Distinguished Speaker
(April 13, 2017) Boston, Ma. – Fisher College is proud to announce today that local television legend and Reverend Liz Walker will
serve as distinguished Commencement Speaker at its 113th Commencement Ceremony at the John Hancock Hall in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11 a.m.
Reverend Walker broke the color barrier in the City of Boston in 1981as the first African-American to co-anchor a television news program. Her esteemed career at WBZ-TV spanned 21 years and served as an inspiration for young journalists not only in New England, but around the country. As a reporter, Reverend Walker’s most memorable assignment was traveling to Africa to cover the Lost Boys of Sudan, and the modern day slave trade. Her eye opening reports earned her the Edward R. Murrow Award for Journalist Excellence.

President McGovern will retire at the close of the academic year, June 30, 2017.
