When you use the web for research, do not assume all the information you find is reliable. Remember that anyone can publish on the web. It's vital to evaluate the web pages that you find. See Evaluating Web Pages for factors to consider when evaluating a web page.

Search Engines (retrieve lots of results, but many may not be relevant)

Subject Directories (find less results than using search engines, but results are more selective and are categorized)

Multimedia Searching (find images, video, and audio clips)

News Directories (search these "real time" indexes for news coverage)
